2nd Period Matrix- 10/10

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed clothing vocabulary.
-Students practiced asking classmates what they're wearing.
-We reviewed the verb "llevar" (to wear). We talked about how to express what someone else is wearing. In partners, students created sentences using this verb.
-We played Loteria (Bingo) using clothing vocabulary and "llevar".
-HOMEWORK: Students have a worksheet to complete. It is due in class next Wednesday, 10/17 (see attachment for worksheet).

2nd Period Matrix- 10/5

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed clothing vocabulary with a matching exercise.
-We played a game to practice talking about what we are wearing (Llevo = I'm wearing)
-We talked about the verb "llevar" which means "to wear".
Llevo = I'm wearing
Llevas = You're wearing
El lleva = He's wearing
Ella lleva = She's wearing
Ellos llevan = They (boys ) are wearing
Ellas llevan = They (girls) are wearing
-We played Loteria with clothing vocabulary.
-HOMEWORK: Students have a worksheet practicing with clothing vocabulary and the verb "llevar". Copies are outside my classroom in the "2nd Period Matrix" folder.

2nd Period Matrix- 10/3

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced conversational skills as a class and in partners.
-We did a listening activity where students heard a dialogue between two people and answered questions about it.
-Students were given vocabulary lists with clothing words (both pages are outside my classroom in the "2nd Period Matrix" folder).
-We went through the vocabulary together and students wrote sentences describing what they're wearing (Llevo... = I'm wearing...).
-HOMEWORK: Students have a worksheet on clothing vocab (copies are outside my classroom in the "2nd Period Matrix" folder). It is due in class on Friday.

Before School- En la tienda (10/21)

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced conversational skills by asking one another questions and giving the correct response
-Students presented their "shopping" experience to the rest of the class. Each took turns selling the items in their store they created and shopping in another student's store.
-Students were evaluated on their pronunciation, vocabulary, confidence, and completion of the assignment.
-Homework sheet is due next class period (Wed 10/26) (see attachment)

Before School: En la tienda (10/19)

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed how to talk about cost.
-Students reviewed how to express how clothing fits. See past lessons for explanation.
-Students reviewed how to ask for what they're looking for and for the correct size. See previous lesson for explanation.
-Students learned how to respond when a sales attendant asks, "¿Necesitas ayuda?" ("Do you need help?"). You can say, "Si..." and then ask for the item you are looking for.
-FOR FRIDAY: We will be acting out a shopping experience for one another in class on Friday. Each student is to create their own store to "sell" items. Each store should sell at least five items. The items should have specific prices UNDER $50. Students may choose to offer only specific colors or sizes if they wish. Students should either draw the store items on a piece of paper or may choose to bring things in for demonstration. I will hand out dialog sheet to the students on Friday including the questions they will cover in the interaction. Each student will have a turn "shopping" and being the sales attendant for their store.

Before School: Me Queda 3 (10/14)

Class Goals: 
Class Activities: 

-I talked to students individually about how they did on their oral quizzes.
-Students practiced writing out dollar amounts in Spanish. We practiced with dollars ("dólares"), euros, and pesos. To express cents, you use "centavos" for dollars, and "céntimos" for euros. If you missed class, practice with numbers at home by writing out in Spanish $7.25, €54.75, MEX$28.50, $30.15, €14.99, MEX$66.30, $22.88, €43.70, MEX$71.05 (see me if you have trouble or need help with this).
-Students learned a new conversational question to ask and answer. To ask someone where they're from, you say, "¿De dónde eres?". We practiced responding with, "Soy de Colorado" (I'm from Colorado) or "Soy de los estados unidos" (I'm from the United States).
-Students learned a useful phrase to use: "Habla despacio, por favor" (Speak slowly, please)
-Students reviewed how to express how something fits you. See past lessons for attachments.
-Students learned how to ask for another size if something doesn't fit you well. The word for size is "talla". We practiced asking, "¿Tienes otra talla?" (Do you have another size?)
-Students also learned how to ask for a particular article of clothing by saying "Quiero...por favor". Students worked with asking for clothing in different colors and sizes. If you don't already know them, please review colors and clothing vocabulary at home.
-Homework was given in class. It is due next class period (10/19). See attachment for the worksheet.

Class Activities: 

-Students were each given an oral quiz on personal questions (see study sheet in last lesson).
-We reviewed clothing vocabulary. Students should be studying this at home to be prepared for class activities.
-Students reviewed how to talk about how something fits you. See attachment in previous lesson.

Before School: Me Queda 1 (10/5)

Class Activities: 

-Students were each given an oral quiz on personal questions (see study sheet in last lesson). Those who missed class will make up the quiz next week (10/11) or will need to arrange a time to meet with me. The quiz only takes a few minutes.
-We reviewed clothing vocabulary. Students should be studying this at home to be prepared for class activities.
-Students learned how to talk about how something fits you. See attachment for lesson.
-Homework was given, due the next period (10/11). See attachment.

Fluency level: 

Before School: La Ropa 4 (9/30)

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced answering questions involving the verb "tener". Remember that "tengo" is used when you are referring to yourself ("I have").
-Everyday in class, students practice conversational skills by responding to these questions: "¿Cómo estás?", "¿Cuántos años tienes?", and "¿Cómo te llamas?". Students will have an oral QUIZ on these questions next class period (Wednesday 10/5, or the following Wednesday 10/12 if they have a class trip next week). They are expected to be able to answer all three questions in complete sentences. Students were given a study sheet for the quiz (see attachment).
-We reviewed clothing vocabulary and corrected mistakes made on homework sheets. Students were reminded to use articles before nouns, for example "LA camisa" for the word "camisa", or "LOS pantalones" for the word "pantalones".

Before School: La Ropa 3 (9/28)

Class Goals: 

-Students practiced with sentences choosing either "tiene" or "tengo" for the correct verb. Remember that "tengo" is used for "I have" and "tiene" is used for "He/she/it has."
-Everyday in class, students practice conversational skills by responding to these questions: "¿Cómo estás?", "¿Cuántos años tienes?", and "¿Cómo te llamas?". Students should expect to have an oral quiz on these soon. I will properly inform them before the day of the quiz.
-Students were given instructions on using this website to check lesson plans and homework assignments. The sheet must be signed by parents and students (see attachment).
-We reviewed clothing vocabulary and practiced writing the words on the board.
-Students should be studying clothing vocabulary at home (see attachment on first lesson of "La Ropa").
