Before School: High Beginner 12/4

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed regular verbs in present tense.
-*Students will have a quiz on present tense next Tuesday, 12/11.
-Student read and learned about Frida Kahlo. They answered comprehension questions on the reading.
-We looked at a couple paintings by Frida.
-HOMEWORK: Study for the quiz on present tense verbs. Complete the worksheet (see attachment, copies are also outside my room).

Before School: High Beginner 11/29

Class Activities: 

-Student practiced changing verbs from present tense to the ar/er/ir form.
-Students did a listening activity where they heard a conversation between two people and answered comprehension questions.
-Students played a verb game.
-HOMEWORK: Students should make corrections on their homework if it was given back to them. If they had no corrections, then they have no homework.

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed present tense verbs.
-Students practiced conversational questions in partners.
-Students learned new vocabulary on how to talk about art (see attachment).
-HOMEWORK: Students should study their new vocabulary. Some students need to make corrections on their previous homework.

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed translation of common vocabulary in Spanish.
-Students practiced conversational questions in partners.
-We discussed how to change/conjugate verbs in present tense. Students were given an explanation sheet and "verb changer" for help (see attachment or copies are outside my room).
-We practiced with verbs on the board.
-HOMEWORK: Students have a worksheet on present tense verbs. It is due next class, Tues 11/13 (see attachment or copies outside my room).

2nd Period Matrix- 5/2

Class Activities: 

-Students took a quiz on present tense and food vocabulary.
-Students read about the history of Cinco de Mayo in partners and we discussed it as a class.
-Students learned vocabulary associated with Cinco de Mayo (see attachment).
-On Friday, we will be celebrating this holiday and playing Loteria (Bingo).
-For homework, students should study their vocabulary sheet so they can play Loteria.

2nd Period Matrix- 4/27

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed present tense verbs.
-Students made “Cartas de Comida” (Food cards), which both a picture and the Spanish name for the food. We exchanged them and practiced talking about what utensils we would need for the particular food.
-I handed out instructions for the quiz we will have in class on Wed 5/2 (see attachment).
-For homework, students must study for quiz and complete a worksheet (see attachment).

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed present tense and food vocabulary.
-We played a game outside categorizing fruits and vegetables in Spanish.
-We reviewed the verb ser (“to know”). Yo soy=I am, Tu eres=You are, El/Ella es=He/She/It is, Nosotros somos=We are, and Ellos/Ellas son=They are
-Students learned new restaurant vocabulary (see attachment).
-For homework, students have a worksheet due next class, Fri 4/27 (not attached-see me for a copy if needed).
