Before School: Beginner 5/8

Class Activities: 

-Students answered questions about the history and celebration of Cinco de Mayo. We talked about the difference between this holiday and Mexican Independence Day on Sept 16.
-We reviewed verbs in the present tense and played a group game.
-HOMEWORK: Students have a worksheet to complete (see attachment).

-Students matched changed (conjugated) verbs with the correct subject.
-We reviewed verbs in the present tense.
-We played a group game for practice.
-Students read about Cinco de Mayo and what it celebrates.
-Students tried cookies with flavors dulce de leche and guava.
-HOMEWORK: none

-Students reviewed matching present tense verbs with the correct subject.
-We played a game practicing conjugating verbs in present tense for all subjects.
-We had a typical Mexican snack to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
-HOMEWORK: Students have a reading on Cinco de Mayo. There are no questions to answer, just do the reading (extra copies are outside my classroom).

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed present tense verbs we have used in class previously.
-Students received explanation sheets on how to match regular verbs to the subject (see attachments).
-We practiced changing verbs in present tense and played a team game.
-HOMEWORK: Students should write sentences in present tense using at least two verbs from each section (-ar, -er, and -ir).

Class Activities: 

-Students learned more about present tense verbs, and the basics of conjugation in the present tense (see attached sheets).
-Students worked on writing their own sentences while others finished their pages for the Alien Book.
-HOMEWORK: worksheet on present tense verbs (attached).

Before School: High Beginner 4/2

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed matching present tense verbs with the correct subject.
-We reviewed conversational topics.
-I handed out an explanation sheet on the "to be" verbs, 'ser' and 'estar' (see attachments).
-We discussed the difference between these two verbs in Spanish.
-HOMEWORK: worksheet on ser/estar (see attachment). No class on Thursday, 4th quarter begins next Tuesday

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed use of present tense verbs, specifically how to answer questions addressed to you.
-We discussed the reading on Velazquez and looked at his art.
-Students were given instructions for a project that will be due in the upcoming weeks. (see attachment)
-HOMEWORK: Students should begin thinking about the topic for their project.
