2nd Period Matrix- 5/2

Class Activities: 

-Students took a quiz on present tense and food vocabulary.
-Students read about the history of Cinco de Mayo in partners and we discussed it as a class.
-Students learned vocabulary associated with Cinco de Mayo (see attachment).
-On Friday, we will be celebrating this holiday and playing Loteria (Bingo).
-For homework, students should study their vocabulary sheet so they can play Loteria.

2nd Period Matrix- 4/27

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed present tense verbs.
-Students made “Cartas de Comida” (Food cards), which both a picture and the Spanish name for the food. We exchanged them and practiced talking about what utensils we would need for the particular food.
-I handed out instructions for the quiz we will have in class on Wed 5/2 (see attachment).
-For homework, students must study for quiz and complete a worksheet (see attachment).

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed present tense and food vocabulary.
-We played a game outside categorizing fruits and vegetables in Spanish.
-We reviewed the verb ser (“to know”). Yo soy=I am, Tu eres=You are, El/Ella es=He/She/It is, Nosotros somos=We are, and Ellos/Ellas son=They are
-Students learned new restaurant vocabulary (see attachment).
-For homework, students have a worksheet due next class, Fri 4/27 (not attached-see me for a copy if needed).

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced categorizing food vocabulary in Spanish. They also practiced talking about what foods they like and don't like.
-As a class, we discussed which foods are “sano” (healthy) or not.
-Each student designed a plate of “comida sano” (healthy food) and shared with the class.
-Students have no homework.

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced writing sentences with present tense verbs.
-Students practiced conversation in partners.
-We finished creating our “Cuento Loco” (Crazy Story) where our friend Bob ended up getting eaten by a blue whale.
-We went over new vocabulary on “La Comida” (Food). We filled out the vocabulary sheets together (see attachment).
-Students have a worksheet for homework due next class, Fri 4/20 (see attachment).

Before School: La comida del mundo (1/18)

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced translating numbers and dollar amounts into Spanish. If you missed class, practice at home translating: 16, 9, 27, 35, $4.74, $1.99, $17.50
-Students practiced conversational skills with one another.
-We discussed expectations for this class. I reminded students that they are expected to participate, show effort, do the assignments in a timely manner, take responsibility, and communicate with me. If you are not sure if there is homework, you may check this website. If you miss class, you may check the website for the lesson and assignments, and talk to me about your absence.
-Students presented the dish they looked up for homework to the rest of the class.
-We will be going on our field trip to the Latin Supermarket tomorrow. We will meet in the Spanish room tomorrow at 11:00am. We will be back in time for lunch.
-Students have no homework.

Before School: La comida del mundo (1/11)

Class Activities: 

-I did not make it to class today as I was stuck in traffic.
-Nikki gave the students sentences to translate from English to Spanish.
-Students should have a copy of the reading on “Comida Mexicana”. Homework is to read over this sheet. We will discuss it in class on Friday (see attachment).

Before School: En el restaurante (12/14)

Class Activities: 

-Students presented the food and restaurant vocabulary through a restaurant scenario. Using the menus they created, other students "dined" in their classmates' restaurant and ordered from their menu. Students took turns as the server and the customer.
-We will continue these presentations on Friday. All students must turn in their completed menus on Friday (12/16). See the attachment for menu instructions.

Before School: En el restaurante (12/9)

Class Activities: 

-Students took a quiz on the food and restaurant vocabulary. If you were not in class, please schedule a time to take the quiz.
-Students began working on creating their own menus (see attachment for instructions).
-Students must finish their menus by Wednesday 12/14.
