2nd Period Matrix- 11/9

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced conversational skills with their classmates.
-We reviewed the “to be” verbs, ser and estar and discussed how to change the verb according to the speaker.
- For ser: “I am” is “Soy” and “You are” is “Eres”. Students practiced coming up with questions and responses using the verb ser.
- For estar: “I am” is “Estoy” and “You are” is “Estás”. Students practiced coming up with questions and responses using the verb estar.
-Students finished working on their Day of the Dead skulls.
-No homework was given, and there is no class this Friday 11/11.

2nd Period Matrix- 11/4

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced conversational skills. I discussed how I would like to see them advancing in their confidence and pronunciation when speaking Spanish.
-I walked the students through this website to make sure all understood how to access our lesson plans.
-Students reviewed the correct uses of the verbs ser and estar. They finished working on their pages about themselves. They were to use at least one sentence using ser and one using estar.
-Homework was given on these verbs. It is due next class period, 11/9. (see attachment for assignment)

2nd Period Matrix- 10/26

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced conversational skills by asking one another questions about their age, their name, and how they're doing
-Students learned about the difference between the verbs "ser" and "estar" and when to use each one (see previous lessons for attachments)
-We practiced with the verbs by categorizing English sentences according to which verb you would use in Spanish
-Students began making sheets about themselves, using at least one sentence with "ser" and one with "estar". We will finish working on this next class period.
-NO CLASS THIS FRIDAY. Second quarter begins next Wednesday

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced conversational skills by asking one another questions and responding correctly.
-Students reviewed directional commands and body parts vocabulary by playing "Simon Dice"
-Students learned how to conjugate the verbs "ser" and "estar" according to the person you are talking about or to. (see attachment for the conjugations)
-We discussed and reviewed when to use "ser" and "estar" (see previous lesson for explanation attachment)

-Students practiced conversational skills in class.
-We reviewed directional vocabulary by doing an exercise similar to the homework assignment. (see past lesson for explanation)
-Students were introduced to the two different ways of saying "I am" in Spanish. See attachment for the list of how to use them.

Describing people: La historia de Esmerelda parte 2

Class Goals: 

To complete a story utilizing recent vocabulary and verbs: tener, ser, llamarse, adjectives that describe people.

Class Activities: 

Start with do now activity (attached) related to our story last Wednesday.

Reviewed story up to this point:

Esmerelda (la protagonista) tiene 75 años.
Es generosa, elegante, y guapa.
Esmerelda tiene un problema. Quiere encontrar a un mejor amigo.
Primero, viaja a Colombia por avión.
Conoce a Jorge.
Jorge tiene 13 años y es amigable y joven.
Pero hay un problema con Jorge: es molestoso (annoying).
Jorge no es el mejor amigo de Esmerelda (porque es molestoso).

Entonces, Esmerelda viaja a Argentina para encontrar a su mejor amigo.
Conoce a Lionel Messi.
Messi tiene 25 años.
Es trabajador y alto.
Pero hay un problema con Messi: es serio.
Messi no es el mejor amigo de Esmerelda porque es serio.

Entonces viaja a España por barco.
Conoce a Guillermo.
Guillermo tiene 80 años.

Tarea (homework): Using attached worksheet, complete a picture sequence of our story (so far) writing the basic story plot below the drawings. Students my want to leave the last one or two boxes blank to be filled in Wednesday for the end of the story.
