-We reviewed the "La bonita Sara" song and phrases using the verb "tener" (see explanation sheet).
-We practiced using "tener" with different subjects, like "we", "they", or "she".

-HOMEWORK: Students have a worksheet that is due next class (see attachment).

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed phrases from the story we did last week in class.
-We went over a new song, "La bonita Sara" that teaches about "tener" phrases (copies of lyrics are outside my room).
-Students practiced guessing the phrases I acted out, and also did this in groups.

3rd Period Matrix- 10/5

Class Activities: 

-Students read descriptions about different people and completed the sentence with a descriptive word for their personality. We discussed several new vocab words that students learned through the readings.
-We went over the activities on "Como es? Parte II" that was previous homework. Students should know to match gender and number for the adjective. They should also know how to change the verb "ser" according to the subject of the sentence.
-We looked at photos and I pretended I was a subject in the photo. As I described myself, students tried to guess which person I was.
-HOMEWORK: Students need to study the 2 pages of "Como es?" vocabulary at home.

Before School: High Beginner 10/4

Class Activities: 

-Students corrected sentences in Spanish.
-We reviewed the conjugation of the verbs "ser" (to be) and "tener" (to have). We practiced using them in sentences to describe people.
-Students presented their homework assignment (describing two people in your family) to the rest of the class. Students listened and answered questions according to the descriptions given.
-HOMEWORK: Students have a worksheet on personality traits (see attachment). It is due in class on Tuesday.

Class Activities: 

-Students corrected sentences in Spanish.
-Students were given a vocabulary sheet with words used to describe people (see attachment). We discussed how to conjugate the verb "tener" (to have) for different subjects and practiced describing ourselves.
-We also reviewed the verb "ser" (to be) and will practice with it more next class.
-HOMEWORK: Students must use "tener" and the middle section of descriptive words to describe two people in their family (or close to them). The sentences are due in class next Tuesday.

-We reviewed our discussion on Mexican Independence Day.
-Students practiced conversational skills in partners.
-We talked about how to conjugate the verb "tener" (to have), in order to say I have, you have, she has, etc. We will go over this again next week.
-We will be having an oral quiz on Tuesday on conversation questions. Practice at home to be prepared.
-HOMEWORK: Study for oral quiz.

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed the verbs “ser”, “estar”, and “tener” by completing a worksheet (see attachment).
-We went over the homework (Diario de una rana) and corrected our answers.
-I handed out sheets that explained how to conjugate these three verbs (see attachment).
-We will have a quiz on Friday on the verbs “ser”, “estar”, and “tener”. Study your conjugation sheet and past work.

Before School: Tener (4/13)

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed using “ser” and “estar” in various phrases.
-Students shared the sentences they created last week with the rest of the class.
-We learned new phrases using the verb “tener”. In English, these phrases are said with “I am”, but they are different in Spanish. For all those listed, we use “I have” (“Yo tengo”) (see attachment).
-Students have a reading and question sheet for homework that is due next class, Wed 4/18 (see attachment).

Before School: Ser y estar (3/16)

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced with personal features vocabulary, describing pictures on the board.
-Students practiced conversational skills.
-We began discussing the two verbs in Spanish used to express the verb “to be”: SER and ESTAR. I handed out an explanation sheet on these verbs. (see attachment) We will finish discussing this next class.
-Students have no homework.
