Before School: High Beginner 4/2

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed matching present tense verbs with the correct subject.
-We reviewed conversational topics.
-I handed out an explanation sheet on the "to be" verbs, 'ser' and 'estar' (see attachments).
-We discussed the difference between these two verbs in Spanish.
-HOMEWORK: worksheet on ser/estar (see attachment). No class on Thursday, 4th quarter begins next Tuesday

Class Activities: 

-Students read descriptions about different people and completed the sentence with a descriptive word for their personality. We discussed several new vocab words that students learned through the readings.
-We went over the activities on "Como es? Parte II" that was previous homework. Students should know to match gender and number for the adjective. They should also know how to change the verb "ser" according to the subject of the sentence.
-We looked at photos and I pretended I was a subject in the photo. As I described myself, students tried to guess which person I was.
-HOMEWORK: Students need to study the 2 pages of "Como es?" vocabulary at home.

Class Activities: 

-Students corrected sentences in Spanish.
-We reviewed the conjugation of the verbs "ser" (to be) and "tener" (to have). We practiced using them in sentences to describe people.
-Students presented their homework assignment (describing two people in your family) to the rest of the class. Students listened and answered questions according to the descriptions given.
-HOMEWORK: Students have a worksheet on personality traits (see attachment). It is due in class on Tuesday.

Class Activities: 

-Students corrected sentences in Spanish using descriptive vocabulary we practiced last class.
-We reviewed how to use the website to check our homework and stay on top of assignments.
-Students were given feedback on their oral quizzes from last week.
-We practiced conversation as a group.
-I handed out a second sheet of "Como es?" vocabulary. We reviewed the use of the verb "ser" (to be).
-Students learned how two things need to match when use adjectives in Spanish: the gender (masculine/feminine) and plurality. Describing boys ends in "o", describing girls ends in "a"; For more than one person, add an "s" at the end.
-HOMEWORK: Students must complete the two exercises on the bottom of their vocabulary sheet (see attachment).

Class Activities: 

-Students corrected sentences written in Spanish.
-Students made their own dictionaries to add words to throughout the year.
-We read together a reading that included new vocabulary of describing people. (copies outside my classroom)
-We reviewed using the verb "ser", which means "to be".
-Students were given two pages of vocabulary for describing people (see attachment). We will be practicing these more in class in the next couple weeks.
-We discussed the two things that need to match when using an adjective, or descriptive word: gender and plurality. If the person is a boy or girl, the ending is either "o" or "a". If there is more than one person, "s" should be at the end.
-HOMEWORK: Student must complete the two activities at the bottom of their "Como estas? Parte II" sheet. It is due in class on Friday.

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed the verbs “ser”, “estar”, and “tener” by completing a worksheet (see attachment).
-We went over the homework (Diario de una rana) and corrected our answers.
-I handed out sheets that explained how to conjugate these three verbs (see attachment).
-We will have a quiz on Friday on the verbs “ser”, “estar”, and “tener”. Study your conjugation sheet and past work.
